Beauty

If you look outside, you'll probably notice that the leaves on the trees are starting to change colors. Their morphing from shades of green to shades of red, orange, and yellow, just like a caterpillar in it's chrysalis. An interesting thought that I had never considered was pointed out to me earlier today, though; the leaves are nothing like the caterpillars in their chrysalis's', and for more than just the obvious reasons. While a caterpillar is changing into it's next stage in life, the leaves aren't. The leaves are only so beautiful because they're dying.

That's kind of how it is with us as humans. Now, when I say this, I don't mean literally. Most of us don't look very fabulous when we're dying--at least, not when we're physically dying. I'm not talking physically, though; I'm talking spiritually.

As a Christian, I have two "selfs" in me. I have my "old self" (which is the side of me that does all of the bad things) and I have my "new self" (the "self" that has been redeemed by Jesus Christ and isn't really me anymore, because me by myself is just the old self). These two "selfs" are at war with each other, always trying to get my attention. The old self wants me to go back to my sinful ways, but my new self wants me to follow God's Word. What am I to do?

To put it bluntly: Part of me has to die. Again, I'm not speaking in a physical sense, I'm speaking in a spiritual sense. I have to do something about that old self, and that "something" is to get rid of it. I have to "die" to the world, which means that I can't be doing all of the evil and wrong things that the world around me is doing; I have to be "transformed by the renewing of my mind". I have to put good things in to get good things out; I can't just be filling my brain up with all of the junk that the world is throwing at me.

To really change and be a beautiful person on the inside, I have to fill myself up with God. I have to cling to what His Word says. I have to trust Him and have faith in Him. I have to stop listening to the world and start listening to Him.

That doesn't mean that I can't have friends that aren't Christians or I can't associate with people who don't know Jesus Christ as their savior. It just means that I can't be like them. I have to stand out. I have to be different.

I have to be "beautiful."

Just like the leaves that die and become beautiful, my sinful self has to die so that I can become truly beautiful from the inside out.

Just think about how lovely our world would be if everyone did that.

Help?

I was just looking back at the comments on my blog and saw that on my "Do you want to see something cute?" blog post there was another comment. So, I looked at it and it was someone asking if I would be interested in drawing some pictures for their blog. They said that if I was interested I should send them a message.

One question: How?

If any of you know, I would be very happy if you would inform me of how to do such things.

Now, on to much more serious news. My great uncle passed away last night. =( Please keep my family in your prayers, guys and girls.

Easter is not just about the candy, people

Maggie looked around in awe. She didn't think it would actually work, but it had. "Jon? Stephanie? Hannah?" she called out, trying to see through the crowd. No one answered, and that fact troubled her. She took a deep breath and took in her surroundings a bit more. She was on a busy road with people and animals all around her. The air smelled like a farm with too many people working on it mixed with a sweet smell she couldn't identify. Upon further inspection, she realized she was in an outdoor market of sorts.

"Out of the way, child!" a woman yelled, pushing Maggie towards a stand with some sort of pastry being sold on it. It was then that Maggie realized she was hardly dressed for the time and place she was at. She was wearing her t-shirt, shorts, and Crocs, while everyone here wore a long coat over what she thought to be a very boring dress. She knew where she was, she just hadn't expected to be there.

"Baklava, child?" a voice asked her from behind. Maggie turned around to look and realized the speaker was a rather round man with a beard and hair that shrouded his whole face. Maggie glanced down at the pastry he was holding out to her and shook her head.

"No, thank you," she said softly. She began moving down the street, keeping an eye out for her friends. Eventually, she walked far enough to come to a quieter part of the city. She stopped and sighed, thinking about how hot and thirsty she was here. There were trees here and there, but mostly the surroundings consisted of brick houses (and not the type of brick she was accustomed to) and sand.

"So, this is Israel, huh?" Maggie murmured to herself, looking around again. Suddenly, two women came running down the road towards her. Following them a little ways was a young girl...wearing a pink tank-top and shorts. "Hannah!" Maggie yelled, running past the two woman and up to Hannah.

"Maggie, I just saw the COOLEST thing EVER!!" Hannah exclaimed. She was easily excited, so Maggie didn't think whatever it was could possibly be that spectacular.

"Yeah, what was that?" Maggie asked as the two continued walking in the direction Hannah had been running.

"An angel! A real, live angel!" Hannah exclaimed and Maggie stopped right in the middle of the road.

"What?" she asked, unable to comprehend this piece of information.

"I was just at the tomb, and the stone was all rolled away, and there was an angel there that told the women to go and tell the disciples that He's risen, just like He said!" Hannah was practically bouncing with excitement, now. "We have to keep going, come on!" Maggie began running along side her friend, wishing she had been there to see such a thing.

"Hey, have you seen Jon or Stephanie?" Maggie asked, panting, as they turned a corner.

"Stephanie stayed behind with the other Mary, but I haven't seen Jon." Hannah replied quickly. They caught sight of the two women just as they entered one of the many stone buildings. They ran up to one of the windows and crouched outside of it.

"The stone was rolled away, and an angel was there, telling us that He's risen!" one of the women said.

"What?" the voice of a man asked in disbelief.

"I saw it too, I did!" the other woman exclaimed. There was the sound of people and things moving around before the door burst open again. A man ran out and down the street where the women had just come from, followed shortly by another man, who was followed by a boy in shorts and a t-shirt.

"Jon!" Maggie gasped. "Come on!" she said, chasing after them. She and Hannah followed the two men until they came to a stop in front of a cave with an enormous stone next to it. Jon stood behind the two men, staring up at the tomb. Maggie couldn't help but stare as well. Hannah bent down to the ground and picked up a small rock. She threw the rock at Jon's back, hitting him.

"Ow!" the two girls heard him say as he spun around. Jon saw Maggie and Hannah and ran over to them without the men noticing. They were going into the tomb, anyways.

"I wondered where you two were..." Jon said, frowning at them.

"I was thinking the same thing, big brother." Maggie said with a smile. "Now all we need to find is-"

"Psst!" the three kids turned to see another girl standing behind a tree a ways away. Their faces lit up as they dashed towards her.

"Stephanie!" Hannah said, hugging her older sister.

"Yeah, nice to see you too," Stephanie said, untangling herself from the hug. "You are not going to believe what I saw!"

"An angel?" Maggie asked.

"Who said Jesus had risen from the dead?" Jon finished. Stephanie's happy expression faded for a moment.

"Guess what else I saw..." she said, lowering her voice. The three other kids leaned in a little closer. "I saw Him! Jesus!" she whispered excitedly.

"No. Way." Hannah said, her eyes widening. Stephanie nodded so hard it looked like her head just might fall off of her shoulders.

"He is risen..." Jon breathed. Maggie's mind spun. She wanted to see the angel, the look on the disciple's faces when they heard the news, but most of all...she wanted to see Jesus. Instead, she had been saying no to baklava, whatever that was... She blinked her eyes a few times to hold back the tears she suddenly felt there.

"Are you okay, Maggie?" Hannah asked. Maggie nodded quickly, looking away. The two men were now exiting the tomb and running back to the city from where they had come.

"Should we go back with them?" Jon asked.

"I guess so," Stephanie said in reply. The group began following after the two men, but Maggie lagged behind. She wiped her eyes with the back of her hand and sniffed. Why did she always miss the exciting things?

"Worry not, child," Maggie heard a voice behind her for the second time today and wondered if she was about to be offered more baklava. "You are blessed, because even though you do not see me, you still believe I am here." Maggie's eyes widened and she spun around. No one was there. She glanced down and saw, on the ground, a square of baklava sitting on a small piece of paper. She picked up the two things and put the paper in her pocket, then proceeded to put the baklava in her mouth. As she began tracing the footsteps of her friends, she decided she liked baklava...

And she most certainly liked finding out that He had, indeed, risen from the grave.

Story Called Life

It's not just a plot twist or a crazy scheme.
It's not just a memory or a forgotten dream.
It's more than how the dice have been played,
And it's more than how the cards have been layed.

Perhaps, in the grand old scheme of things,
Someone has flown away on golden wings.
Maybe, you've thought you had it all planed out,
To find that there's something to make you shout.

But worry not, for it's not random chance.
There's someone above who has had it all planned.
The plot of your life was written by His hands,
Whether we like it or not,
He was watching from the stands.

So even though you think you may have lost,
Or you think that your own dreams have surely been tossed,
Remember that God is there for you with a friend,
Even when it appears that you have...reached your end.

Lame title...wrote it when I found out an Internet buddy of mine had cancer and wasn't supposed to live past this month...decided to post it today.

MR Fanfic (MPOV) Chapter twenty-five

After dinner (which was fabulous, by the way) we went out to the living room and watched a movie. Jessie sat in her chair, Jazz and I sat on the couch, and Chad and Marie sat on a smaller couch next to ours. The movie we watched was Kung Fu Panda, and I laughed my fool head off. Seriously. Jazz did as well. Okay, so we all did. I wasn't done being tense, but I did enjoy the movie. We got to eat popcorn while watching the movie, too, so it was all good with me. Except that I needed to find my Flock...

After the movie, we talked for a while. "So, where are Fang, Iggy, Nudge, Gassman and Angel?" Jessie asked from across the room. I sighed and looked at the popcorn kernels in my bowl.

"I don't know. We split up for like, five seconds in a mall, and they took off with her." I pointed at Jazz with my thumb as I spoke. "So I had to go on a hunt for them, then I found them, and some other birdkids, then right after I met up with them we had to fight a group of M-Geeks, then we started driving and then we stopped at a restaurant then I got kidnapped then she got kidnapped and it's all a big mess that I call 'My life'." I finished and breathed deeply. I glanced over at Jazz, who was looking at me with an expression that was saying something sarcastic. I didn't look at her long enough to find out what the sarcastic comment was, though.

"Wow..." Marie said softly. She was looking at me with caring blue eyes. I nodded and sighed. "Do you need a place to stay?" She suddenly asked. She looked at Chad quickly and he shrugged, then she looked back to me.

"Uh, well, yeah..." I said slowly.

"I think the correct answer is 'Yes, please'." Jazz said with a smile. I rolled my eyes and shook my head at her. "You don't have to be so reluctant to accept help." She muttered, resting her head on the arm of the couch. I sighed then looked back at Marie.

"Yes, please." I said with a small smile. Marie smiled at me then stood up.

"We'll, we don't have a guest room, but we do have a living room and Jessie's room. You can take your pick." Marie said, looking between me and Jazz. I glanced over at Jazz to see if she had any opinion, but her eyes were closed and she looked like she was sleeping.

"Um..." I said slowly, taking into account everything. The living room was right near the door, but had no windows in it. Jessie's room was down the hallway and probably had one small window, probably not big enough to crawl through quickly. I pondered this for a minute then answered.

"The living room is fine." I said with a smile.

"All right, then I'll go grab a couple more blankets and some more pillows." Marie said, walking off.

"You took the living room because it had more escape exits, didn't you?" Jessie asked. I nodded sheepishly.

"Don't worry, Max, we're not gonna hurt you." Chad said with a chuckle.

It's not you guys I'm worried about... I thought, taking into account their sizes. Unless they were Erasers, I could beat 'em all easily. But the Erasers weren't around anymore, so I wasn't that concerned about that. Suddenly, my brain reeled.

"JAZZ!" I screamed, shaking her awake. Chad and Jessie both jumped at my exclamation. Jazz opened her eyes and looked around, slightly panicked.

"What?" She asked, sitting up.

"The screen had a wolf on it!" I said quickly.

"Okay...?" She said, shaking her head. I sighed and groaned at the same time.

"They're making a new batch of Erasers!!" I exclaimed. Jazz's expression went something like mine would go if I heard that news.

"Maybe they were just trying to make a new type of wolf or studying a new type of wolf or something..." She said, looking worried. I shook my head.

"I doubt it."

"But, Erasers means Itex."

"And you beat Itex in the third book." Jessie pointed out. Jazz and I both turned to look at her. "I kinda thought that the storyline went downward after that. And the fourth book was so short... I mean, Itex was the best badguys as far as the story goes." I stared at Jessie in disbelief as she spoke.

"Well, I'm sorry my life has a bad storyline." I said snidely. Jessie looked taken aback. Jazz poked me hard in the arm. "Ow!" I said, rubbing my arm while glaring at her.

"Be nice. She didn't think you were real. And for a great deal of the time I was reading the series, I didn't either." Jazz said quietly. I slumped down into my chair and glared at Jazz. She was right...

"Do you ladies want something pajama-like?" Chad asked, standing up and stretching.

"Uh, sure, I guess..." I said slowly, looking at Jazz.

"I have some extra pajamas you could borrow! I bet they'd fit!" Jessie said, jumping up. "Do either of you like bright colors?" She asked quickly.

"What ever you have is fine with me. As long as it's decent, I mean." Jazz said with a smile. I nodded in agreement with her.

"Okay, I'll be right back!" Jessie said, then she ran off through the kitchen and down the hall. Marie walked back into the room with some blankets in her arms and a couple pillows on top of them.

"Here you ladies go!" She said, setting the pillows on the other couch. I stood up and smiled at Marie, and Jazz slowly followed my example.

"Thank you." We both said simultaneously. I looked at Jazz, slightly freaked out. We sounded exactly the same... Marie giggled and Chad chuckled.

"Are you girls sure you're not twins?" He asked, stretching.

"I have no idea if we have any relation." I replied softly. I looked over at Jazz and she shrugged.

"Okay, I have a couple options!" Jessie said, running back in. She was holding a few shirts and pants in her arms. She held up a shirt and a pair of pants as she spoke. "Option one, any takers?" She asked, looking between me and Jazz. It was a pink long-sleeved shirt that was made of fleece, and the pants had lots of different bright colors. The pants were also made of fleece.

"Uh..." Jazz said slowly. I wasn't gonna wear that pink in a million years.

"Okay, option two then." Jessie said, holding up another pajama option. It was a green t-shirt with Mickey Mouse on it and black flannel pants with Mickey Mouse all over them.

"Dibs!" I yelled, reaching out for the pajamas. Jessie handed them too me then held up the last option for Jazz to see. The last option consisted of a dark purple t-shirt with three light blue stars in the middle of it. The pants were also dark purple and had little blue stars all over them.

"Works for me." Jazz said, taking the pajamas from Jessie. Jessie smiled and began to bounce up and down.

"Okay, who wants to use the bathroom first? I would suggest you get in there before Dad because he takes for-EH-ver." Jessie whispered the last part and Jazz giggled.

"I heard that." Chad said, faking sadness.

"I'll go get ready first if that's all right with you peoples. I'm beat..." Jazz said, yawning. I nodded and Jazz walked off to the bathroom. I followed her a minute later, just to secure the fact that I was going in next. I stood outside the bathroom door and looked at the Mickey Mouse on the t-shirt in my arms. Suddenly, I heard singing. It was some of the most lovely singing I had ever heard...and it was coming from the bathroom.

"Were you singing in there?" I asked Jazz as she came out, all star-ey-fied.

"Yeah..." She replied slowly, looking at me suspiciously.

"It's kinda funny, because you sing really well, but I don't, and we have the exact same voice." I said dryly.

"I bet if you sang more you'd sound better." Jazz said, walking past me. I snorted as I walked into the bathroom.

"Doubt it." I muttered as I closed the bathroom door.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

I settled down on the longer of the two couches and sighed. Jazz was on the other couch, and it sounded like she was already asleep. Jessie came out and stood next to the couch for a minute, just looking at me.

"What?" I asked, trying not to sound annoyed. She shrugged.

"I dunno. I just wanted to say goodnight, I guess..." She said softly. I nodded then began thinking about my Flock... How we did the fist stack before we went to bed... Suddenly, I sat bolt upright.

"Do you have a computer or a laptop or something?" I asked Jessie urgently. She nodded. "Can I use it?" I asked. She nodded again. I stood up and let Jessie lead me down the hallway to the room at the end of it. It looked like a little office. I saw the computer sitting on a desk and ran over to it. I turned it on and waited for it to boot up. It felt like it took forever. After it was all booted up, I brought up the Internet and went to Fang's blog.

"What are you doing?" Jessie asked, looking over my shoulder.

"Leaving a message for Fang." I said. I left a comment on his blog then sent him a private message, asking him where he was. And, just for the fun of it, I put in the secret word, so he would know it was really me. I sighed after I sent the message off and hoped beyond hope Fang would read his messages. I turned off the computer then stood up and stretched.

"Thanks, Jessie. For... Everything." I said softly. She smiled at me and seemed to glow with happiness.

"You're welcome." She said. We walked out of the room and back to the living room. I crawled back onto the couch and covered up with the blankets. Jessie turned off the light, but I didn't fall asleep right away...

God, if you're really up there... Could you please remind Fang to look at his messages? And could you please keep the Flock safe? I prayed silently. I didn't know if God would answer or what, but I figured praying didn't hurt anyone. I sighed and rolled onto my side.

"Goodnight, Jazz." I whispered.

"Goodnight, Maximum Ride."

Happy Easter, Peeps!

Little bit of punny humor, there. :P Well, happy Easter to you, my blog readers. :D I've had an awesome Easter. First, we came down stairs and found our Easter baskets, which my baby brother loved because his had Play-Dough in it. :P I liked mine because it had BOLT in it. My other brother got a small sketchpad and blue jeans. Very practical. :P

Next, we went to church and we kids did a program telling the story about Jesus coming to Earth to save us all from our sins and death. (Also, one of the guys in our church recited like, 100 and some verses from the book of Luke about the death and resurrection of Christ. He did it very well.) The program was really good. :)

Then we came home and ate lunch and died Easter eggs and watched BOLT! Which I love.

But even through all the festivities, we must remember the true reason for the season: Jesus dying on the cross to save us from our sins, then rising again on the third day and conquering over the grave! So, I will now wish you all a happy Easter, and hope you remember and are thankful for the sacrifice Jesus made.

We're at war (preachy post)

With the Devil. This morning in Sunday school, we were talking about how the Devil will give us some big evil to focus on, while he sneaks up from the side and attacks us, knocking us off guard. We also talked about how the Devil masquerades as different people to lead us astray. He'll even disguise himself as a pastor or some religious leader to lead people astray! So, we have to be careful. It's easier for the Devil to sell us something when there's truth intertwined in it, then just to tell us a story that's all lies. If there's truth in it, we're more likely to believe it. So be careful guys, and be sure you know what you believe in is true.

It's our anniversary!

About, anyways. My tummy ache and I have been together for a whole year! :D *fake happiness* Woo-hoo! It was about this time last year when I got my first tummy ache in this series...or mess...or saga. I call it "Episode 3: Return of the Pain!" :P Last year, between the 21 and the 28, we went to Little Cesar's pizza, and I got my first tummy ache...the beginning of Episode 1...Oh well, at least I'm not moping! I want flowers and get well cards to celebrate, cause if you have a year long tummy ache, you don't get "Get Well Soon!" cards, or flowers. If you have surgery or something like that, you get that stuff. IT'S NOT FAIR! *whines* :P *sigh* Well, I'm off...

Monday, September 15, 2008

Well, that's all, folks...

According to the doctors, I'm crazy. But you all already knew that. :P Seriously though, we've hit a dead end. No more. Nothing else we can do. My stomach ache will forever remain a mystery. They have found nothing medically wrong with me, but I think--no, I KNOW that it's NOT in my head. If it was, I'd have a tummy ache all the time, or whenever I thought about the thing that I was depressed or whatever about. But I get a stomach ache WHEN I EAT and AFTER I EAT. So that wouldn't make sense. That, and I think there's a girl with the same thing I have. I have to get more info before I know for sure, but I'm pretty sure that we have the same thing. *sigh* You know what, you'd think I'd feel worse than that, but I don't. I know that there's a plan for my life, and I know I'm not crazy. I know God's gonna help me. I know He'll help all of you too. Prayin'.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Please help the families of all those people who were in the World Trade Towers and didn't get out. Please, Lord, help them. Give them courage, and help give them a shoulder to cry on, because You know they'll need it. Lord, help our troops, our President, and help America to open her eyes to the tragedy of it all. Help us all to remember what we're fighting for. Please, Lord, help our troops, keep them safe. Lord, help my family this day, and my friends. Help Rae, VJ, D, Ali, and Xingu, and all the others that I didn't mention. You know them, you love them. And, Lord, please, please, please help the men, women, and children who lost loved ones that day.

In Your name I pray, Amen.

That's how my prayers go, today. Not exactly like that, but along those lines. I remember, vaguely, what happened. I remember that the towers fell while my mom watched news in the kitchen. It was Fox news. She watched. She looked at it, shocked, I guess, then I remember tears. I don't remember if I cried, I can't remember that. I remember that the news was on all day. I remember that Mom couldn't watch it all day, so she went to her spinning wheel and began to spin. She spun a lot of yarn that day, then knit it into a scarf later. She calls it her "9-11" scarf.

This morning, after I brushed my hair, I came out of the bathroom and looked up at the T.V., just in time to see the World Trade Towers coming down. It was a recorded video on the news. Replaying it. I felt my breath leave me. I sat down at the table and poured my cereal, trying not to cry. I might have, a little though. But I didn't let anyone see it. We left the house, right after three kids had said something about their dad who had died in the collapse of the Towers. The last words said were from the girl. "We love you, daddy." A tear slipped out.

Today, my friends, I take my hats off to those men and women who are serving our country. (Figuratively speaking) And finally, MAY GOD BLESS AMERICA!
