Once in a lifetime

You don't have to be fast, or a great swimmer, or a super-strong person. You don't have to go to the Olympics for a once in a lifetime opportunity. Every story you write, every picture you draw, every smile you make, is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Every day is a once in a lifetime opportunity, so treat it that way.

This deep thought is brought to you be yours truly.

All you said could be true, Unknown, but what Mii said was true as well. What people think of us doesn't define who we are. Even if "adults" think lowly of us, don't those smiles still count?

By saying "Adults think lowly of kids already," you imply that all adults as a group think that, which is not the case. Therefor, you are creating yet another generalzation, making you no better than the people who think lowly of kids because you do the same thing. Really, it's the government that downgrades kids, but they think it's right, for now.

I agree with VJ. Although the government only downgrades kids becuase at 18 you're allowed to vote. I acctually wrote to President Bush a few years ago, and got a reply back. NOT ONE THAT WAS JUST IN THE COMPUTER! LIKE, HE ACTUALLY READ MY LETTER! (I will admit that I screamed in pure joy) So, the only reason we're "looked down apon" by government is becuase we're not old enough to vote. But kids can still make a difference.

"Don't let anyone look down on you becuase you're young. Instead, be an example to them in word, actions, and life."

No, we're not aloud to vote because we're looked down upon. Apparently, we can't make our own decisions. Did you know that, according to the 14th Amendment, we aren't considered people?

All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.


So, if we're people, why doesn't all of it apply to us?

Can we not twist the amendments?
I'm perfectly fine with not being a LEGAL ADULT yet.
There's a difference between being an adult in maturity and being an adult legally. Being mature enough to be considered an adult is the best thing ever, so strive for THAT and be happy.

Becuase, lots of kids AREN'T mature enough to make smart decissions! I probably am, and you probably are, but lots of kids aren't, unfortunately. When you're older, you have learned more. You have more experience under your belt, and supposedly, you're smarter becuase you've finished school. Therefore, you can make better decissions. But, even adults don't make the smartest decisions sometimes. It was founded that way many years ago, and there hasn't been a need to change it. And one uestion: I POSTED ON A BE HAPPY SUBJECT, HOW DID IT ESCALADE TO POLITICS?!?
