MR fanfic (MPOV) Chapter 33

Five hours and a snack later, the majority of my Flock was asleep. From the clock on Fang's computer (that was sitting on his lap, open, next to me) I gathered that the time was a little past midnight. Fang was updating his blog, letting everyone know I was safe, and letting them know we'd found another person who looked like me. But that she wasn't pseudo-Max. Or, at least, we didn't think she was...

Speaking of Jazz, she was sitting a couple chairs over from me and Fang drawing on a piece of paper the lady behind the desk had given her. Sam was sitting next to her, slowly nodding off, while Kalie rested her head on his shoulder as she slept. Thing 1 and Thing 2 were talking softly with Nudge, sounding like they'd be asleep in seconds. Gazzy was on the other side of Jazz, slumped over, asleep, and Angel was using me as a pillow while she slept. I glanced over at Fang and figured it was safe to talk to him now about stuff I didn't really want the others to hear.

"Fang?" I whispered as I tapped his hand with my finger.

"Yeah?" he asked in his soft voice. I took a deep breath.

"I saw something weird on the way here..." I began, wishing I could beat around the bush longer. Fang looked over at me and gave me a look, his way of telling me to continue. "I saw...Ari." I took a deep breath and looked away, slightly fearing he would think I was nuts.

"Huh..." he said instead. I looked back over at him.

"What?" I asked.

"The first comment on my blog said you aren't nuts." he replied, staring at the screen of his computer.

"What?" my tone was more unbelieving, this time.

"Look." Fang said simply as he turned the computer so I could see it. I read the comment, and it was pretty simple.

Fang, Max isn't nuts. She sees things others don't see. Don't write her off because you may not see what she does.

I read the message a few times, and the weirdest thing about it was that the person who sent it didn't have a user name. It was just a comment underneath Fang's blog post with no name attached or anything.

"Okay, that's weird." I said, glancing over at Angel to make sure she was asleep. I thought Nudge was the computer one and Angel was the one that could read minds. Were they now combining their powers to freak me out?? I voiced my thoughts to Fang and he looked over the top of his computer at Nudge, who looked like she was now sleeping.

"I don't think that's possible, even while they're awake..." he said, flashing me a rare smile.

"Maybe they're faking..." I whispered, hardly noticing how nice he looked when he wore a smile.

Maybe you need some rest, Max. I heard the Voice chime in unnecessarily. I sighed and was about to make a witty remark when everything suddenly went black.

I woke up when my pillow moved. I bolted upright, practically tossing Angel to the ground. She let out a yelp much like Total and I looked over at her, only to find that she had been hiding Total under her jacket on her lap. Which kinda explained the yelp...

"Max!" Total hissed softly. I looked around frantically and saw that it was morning. Everyone was accounted for except for Fang and Iggy. Nudge, Thing 1, and Thing 2 were all awake and talking in whispers. I stood up after apologizing to Angel and hopped over to them, avoiding Gazzy (who was now sleeping on the floor).

"Hey, Nudge, where's Fang?" I asked quickly as a squatted down next to her and the other two girls.

"He's back helping Iggy get ready to go." she replied softly and with a smile. "He just went back there." I sighed in relief and nodded at her.

"Thanks," I said with a smile. I looked up and saw Fang and Iggy walked out of the hallway towards us. I dashed towards the two of them and looked them over. Iggy was dressed and looked back to his regularly pale self.

"That was fast..." I said slowly as I raised an eyebrow.

"I was just waiting for him to tell me I was allowed to leave. I've been ready to go for a while, now." Iggy explained with a smile. "It feels good to be back in my own dirty clothes again..." I smiled at him, remembered he couldn't see it, then told him I was smiling. He smiled down at me.

"Come on, let's get out of here." Fang said as he walked towards the others. He began tapping everyone on the hands or shoulders and they all woke up right away. I glanced over at the lady behind the desk, who was standing up and peering at Total. I figured we weren't allowed to have a dog in a hospital, so I thought it would be best to scram...and fast.

"Okay, people, let's move!" I hissed as I pulled Gazzy to his feet.

"But I'm hungry..." he mumbled. "Don't we get to have breakfast?" he asked as he rubbed his eyes. I pushed him towards the door and smiled at the lady behind the desk before people started exiting through the door.

"We'll pick up something on the way." I said. I said it so fast it almost sounded like it was all one word. "Thanks for everything!" I yelled at the lady behind the desk. Surprisingly enough, she smiled at me and waved as I walked out the doors and back out to the real world.

Yes, they most certainly are! I never think about the fact that these were written stories, cause it's never obvious. Your characters are just...REAL. That's the best way to say is. :D:D:D
